About This ROM Hack

Pokémon Distortion Black is a story-focused Pokémon GBA ROM hack set in the mysterious Xenon Region, a land rumored to be connected to Giratina and the Distortion World. Developed by Nex, this project emphasizes exploration, secrets, and unconventional gameplay mechanics such as 2D side-scrolling areas and quest-based progression.

The hack aims to blend humor, mystery, and darker narrative elements while experimenting with new gameplay ideas not commonly seen in traditional Pokémon games.

Story Overview

You are a 14-year-old trainer who wakes from a disturbing nightmare on what should be an important day—receiving your first Pokémon from Professor Brick.

After choosing your starter, the professor abruptly leaves, asking you to meet him later in his lab. When you arrive, he’s gone. No explanation. No clues. Only questions.

Your investigation leads you through caves, cities, and gyms, where you encounter suspicious individuals wearing shirts marked with a “C”. Pokémon are stolen, Gym Leaders are left helpless, and a mysterious man seems to be at the center of it all.

As the story unfolds, you learn about Team Crisis, their connection to the Xenon Region’s secrets, and the legendary Pokémon Giratina, said to dwell somewhere beyond reality itself.

It’s up to you to uncover the truth and stop Team Crisis before the region collapses into chaos.
