About This ROM Hack

Pokémon Flare is a creative hack of FireRed where players experience Kanto in a reversed or unusual order, facing Team Rocket as they attempt to capture the legendary birds. The hack includes modern mechanics such as the Physical/Special split, Fairy-type Pokémon, and moves from Gen IV–VI, while keeping the adventure grounded in classic Kanto exploration.

Players can challenge the Elite Four in any order, rematch gym leaders, explore unique minigames, and catch nearly all Pokémon from Gens I–III, including legendaries. The hack emphasizes freedom of exploration and replayability with toggleable mechanics and extensive postgame content.

Story Overview

Team Rocket is up to their old tricks, targeting the three legendary birds. Players must travel Kanto, stop their plans, and uncover hidden secrets along the way. With a unique twist on Kanto’s geography, each route and gym feels new, from urban redesigns to swamps and rainforests, creating a fresh experience while maintaining the classic Pokémon story.
