About This ROM Hack
Pokémon Omega Paradox is a completed NDS ROM hack of Drayano’s Pokémon Volt White.
The game takes place one month after the Masked Man attack. Many have been killed or injured, and the world of Unova is in turmoil. Elite clans composed of Team Rocket, Team Plasma, and the reformed Team Aqua have allied with the Masked Man to control the region.
You, as one of the few who can Omega-Evolve Pokémon, are tasked with stopping the Masked Man. Along the way, familiar faces like Cynthia and Drake return, and former gym leaders and elite trainers appear throughout Unova to challenge you.
The story also reveals hidden identities (like Drayden as a professor) and the true nature of the Masked Man as the game progresses.
Story Overview
You are one of the few trainers capable of Omega-Evolving Pokémon, a new type of evolution similar to Mega Evolution but irreversible. The game begins with you choosing a starter Pokémon and setting out to stop the Masked Man before he fully consolidates his power.
Along the way:
- Former Gym Leaders have taken up roles as significant trainers or mentors.
- Familiar faces like Cynthia and Drake return to assist you.
- The true identity of the Masked Man is gradually revealed.

Your choices and starter Pokémon also affect the difficulty of battles, providing three modes:
- Geodude: Easy Mode (faster leveling, first gym easier)

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How does Omega Evolution work?A: Some Pokémon can Omega-Evolve using a special in-game method. This evolution is irreversible and cannot be undone. Only certain Pokémon can Omega-Evolve, and not all will be obvious. For example:
- Eevee → Omega → Brezeon
- Grimer (Route 5) → Omega → Fire-type Lava Muk
- Ponyta (Route 7) → Omega → Dark-type Rapidash
Q: Can I Mega Evolve Pokémon outside of battle?
A: Only Camerupt and Slowbro currently have functional Mega Evolutions outside of battle. Other Mega Evolutions are unavailable.
Q: Where do I find new starters?
A: Starters are available at the beginning of the game. Your choice determines your difficulty mode: Geodude (Easy), Zorua (Medium), Eevee (Hard).
Q: Are there any changes to Legendary Pokémon?
A: Yes, Legendary Pokémon generally remain in Volt White locations, with two new Legendaries added in the P2 Laboratory and the Abundant Shrine.
Q: Why are some trainers “important” early in the game?
A: Many trainers were replaced with Gym Leaders or former Gym Leaders to make the story more significant and challenging. For example, Looker, Lance, or other high-level characters appear throughout Unova.
Q: Some text doesn’t fit in the box—what should I do?
A: This occurs with extended text, particularly involving the Masked Man. Workarounds: shorten the name, skip dialogues quickly, or ignore minor text overflow—it won’t break the game.
Q: Some female Pokémon sprites are broken.
A: Yes, a few female Pokémon sprites are misaligned due to overworld and sprite changes. It does not affect gameplay.
Q: Can I catch Mega Pokémon or Omega Evolutions in the wild?
A: No. Megas and final-form Omega Pokémon are not available for capture. Only story-related Omegas and certain starter evolutions can be obtained.
Q: Who is the final opponent?
A: The final opponent is Ash, waiting in Undella Town. He serves as the ultimate challenge after you defeat the Masked Man and clear the main storyline.
Q: My starter Pokémon changes the difficulty—how does this affect the first gyms?
A:
- Geodude (Easy): First Gym Leader has Audino to help you level up faster.
- Zorua (Medium): Balanced experience and difficulty.
- Eevee (Hard): Early battles are tougher, requiring careful planning and grinding.
Q: Can I change trainer names or text errors in-game?
A: Some text errors and names (like Professor Drake or MM for Masked Man) were left in due to time constraints. You may contact the creator for a fully updated text version, but these do not break the game.
