In Pokémon Mega Emerald X and Y, with the map unchanged, many routes and locations have undergone some changes. New events have been added to the main plot of the original emerald version. The background music has been updated. New weather conditions have been added, the time of day has been changed. The starting Pokémon are replaced by representatives from the sixth-gen. Also, Pokédex has been updated, which now includes Pokémon from the I-VI generation. There are over 40 Legendary Pokémon to be found. Introduced mega-evolution and primitive forms. Evolution through trade has been removed. There are three regions in the game.
