About This ROM Hack
Pokémon Sunrise Orange is a FireRed-based ROM hack set in the Orange Islands, offering a fresh, tropical-themed Pokémon journey inspired by the anime region.
The hack introduces a brand-new story, new villain organization (Team Umbra), and custom regional forms, while still preserving the core FireRed gameplay structure. It also modernizes the experience with systems like the Fairy type and Physical/Special Split, making it feel closer to later-generation Pokémon games.
This is a fan-made interpretation of what an Orange Islands RPG could look like inside the GBA engine, blending nostalgia with new worldbuilding and mechanics.
Story Overview
Players move to Valencia Island and receive a starter Pokémon from Professor Ivy. Together with her sister, they embark on a journey across the Orange Islands, aiming to challenge the Orange Crew and prove themselves as a skilled trainer.
However, a villainous group called Team Umbra threatens the peace of the archipelago, and it is up to the player to stop their schemes while exploring the islands, capturing Pokémon, and completing challenges unique to this region.
