The Pokemon you encounter and battle are all Pokemon from the first 2 Gens of Pokemon, Kanto, and Johto, or RBY and GSC. Why the first 2 Gens? Because B2W2 has about 300 Pokemon and excluding overlap, Gen 4 evolutions, legendaries, etc. It works out to about 270ish which depending on location and what not can easily be trimmed down to fit into 251.
List of Features
- If a Pokemon evolves via trading only, they now evolve via level up
- If a Pokemon evolves via trading with an item, it now evolves holding the said item and evolving during day time
- If a Pokemon evolves via item, it has a 50% of holding said item
- If a Pokemon has a prevolution or evolution from the newer Gens, it has been removed.
- Most Gen 1 and Gen 2 Pokemon that were already in B2W2 are in the same areas as before.
- You can get all Gen 2 starters before the 3rd gym.
- A lot of Pokemon have pretty logical replacements. IE Emolga is the Electric Rodent of Gen 5, what do you think you will find if you try searching for an Emolga?
- The Victory Road Forest has some interesting Pokemon to use and is a great place to grind
